In 1925 Boris Cecil Peetz, master jeweller and fisherman living in Victoria founded Peetz Fishing Reels. Peetz applied his jeweller’s skills to the Nottingham style reels popular in Europe at the time. The result was the timelessly simple and ingeniously reliable Peetz fishing reel that continues to be manufactured in Victoria.

For over 90 years fishermen have been putting Peetz’ reels to the test against the seas, the weather and the big fish of the Pacific Northwest. Fishing stories and legends have gathered ‘round these valuable reels as they are passed from one generation to the next.

Every Peetz fishing reel is still handcrafted in Victoria by artisans who honour Peetz’ commitment to design, precision, and durability. They are produced in limited numbers using traditional methods. In fact, some of the tools and jigs still used today are original equipment created by Peetz nearly a century ago. To the company’s knowledge, Peetz Outdoors is the only remaining manufacturer of Nottingham-style wood reels in the world.
