The Veins of Life Watershed Society is a community environmental organization focusing on habitat restoration projects and garbage removal initiatives along the shorelines and streams in our local watershed. The society also maintains an environmental education program and various public outreach activities.

The society envisions what Victoria’s Harbour, Gorge Waterway & Portage Inlet will look like in one hundred years. Their goal is to establish a healthy and sustainable environment in which watersheds support fish and wildlife, and recreational use. Goals are achieved through consultation and cooperation with government agencies, businesses, local environmental groups and the public.

The society had its beginnings in 1994 as a father and son began their personal clean up effort on Victoria’s Gorge waterway. The debris removal campaign quickly gained momentum, and in 1996 a core group of active and interested volunteers registered VOLWS as a non-profit society.

The Ralmax Group of Companies, a supporter of this website is a Veins of LIfe Watershed Society supporter.
