In May 1924 the Consolidated Whaling Corporation, headquartered in Victoria, purchased a 1915 Boeing C-672 Model 5 (G-CAFK) to serve as their whale spotting aeroplane. The aircraft was purchased from the United States Navy. The aircraft operated out of Naden Harbour in the Queen Charlotte Islands though when in Victoria the plane was moored near the Point Ellis Bridge, the new Johnson Street Bridge can be seen in the background.
